Arno and Giesela Toll, came from Germany and fell in love with this part of Minnesota back in the mid-seventies. In 1986 they bought a run down old roadhouse and decided to start a restaurant because there was no German food to be found here in the Northern Region.
It was a modest beginning and a limited menu, just steak, baked potato and cole slaw.
It didn't take long for their daughter, Gabriele Kirschman, a bright, energetic and highly-efficient German woman to develop a unique restaurant that, not only has good, homemade food, but is a pleasure to visit.
"It's more like a family. Every spring when you open the door I give the people their hugs when they come in because I'm so happy to see them again."
